Recruitment Procedures for China

To apply for a teaching position in China, please follow these steps:

1. Email us your updated resume, photo and profile form. The profile form can be downloaded from this website.

2. Please answer carefully the questions contained in the Profile form, noting in particular the date when you are available to depart for China.

3.Give us about two to three weeks to locate a suitable school for you.

4.Once a school is found, you will be notified immediately and a contract will be emailed to you.

5.Read the contract's terms and conditions carefully. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask.

6.If you accept the position, you will need to print the contract, sign each page and fax it back to us. We will inform the school that you have accepted the position.

7.Download the Visa application form from our website, fill it out and mail it, along with a cheque for $40 and your passport, to the Chinese consulate in your city. If there is no consulate, you will need to go through the Chinese embassy in Canberra. (A list of Chinese legations in Australia is provided for your benefit in the Visa Information section of this webpage. Please remember to use registered post at all times.

8 The visa you should apply for is a "single-entry" travel.Once in China, your school will apply to have it changed to a "work visa". You will then be legally allowed to work and live in China for 12 months until the end of the contract period.

Medical health exam is required when applying for a Z class work visa. Download the Medical Health forms from our website.

9.If you have any queries regarding your visa application, please visit the Chinese embassy website at: http://www.chinaembassy.org.au/ for further details, or phone us.

10.You will then need to book your flight (must be a 12 month return flight) with your local travel agent. You are responsible to pay your own flight initially and be reimbursed by the school at the completion of the contract period. HOWEVER THERE ARE SCHOOLS IN CHINA THAT ARE WILLING TO PROVIDE CANDIDATES WITH  PRE-PAID FLIGHT TICKETS BEFORE DEPARTURE, AS WELL AS WORK VISAS.

11.Once you have booked your flight, please email a copy of the flight itinerary to the school you are going to so that we can notify the school and make arrangements to pick you up from the airport.

12. Please finalise your affairs in Australia and remember to stick to the baggage limit. Please show up at the airport atleast two hours before departure.

13 You may take your mobile phone with you and purchase a new sim card in China.
Alternatively, you can switch over to "global roaming" with your provider.
